Rob Feakins: Far and Wide Media

by Tausha Cowan

Name: Rob Feakins

Occupation: I am a social media and content creator for social good. I am also an adventure photojournalist and blogger, and most recently, I became an Official Mt Travel Sobek Adventurer.

Website: farandwidemedia.com

Currently Living In: Westport, Connecticut

Travel Motto: Every time you check off one bucket list item, you discover five more to add.

Favorite Travel Destinations: Teton National Park, Middle Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho, Nepal and its Himalayas, Siam Reap in Cambodia, Patagonia.

What Makes Him Want to See the Globe: I am a man in his fifties who has decided to fire his corporate career and see as much as the world as I can. My bucket list is two pages long. Single spaced.

Travel also shows what kind of person you truly are. If you are tolerant, you will greet with open arms the woman who puts a big heaping haul of yak dung into the fire in Gorek Shep, Nepal. If you are irritable, plane delays (and there are always plane delays) will ruin your trip. If you are empathetic then you will be humbled by that three-year-old little girl offering you her only piece of chocolate in an earthquake-devastated village in Nepal.

Ultimate Bucket List Trip: I am torn between climbing Acongagua which is the highest peak outside of Asia and is 22,838 feet. It is in the Andes in Argentina and is considered the highest non-technical climb in the world. Or, scuba diving and snorkeling in Raj Ampat in Indonesia, a huge pristine marine environment.

Best Way to Maximize Vacation Days: I never took more than a week off. Except twice. I regret that. Let your vacation days build and then go. The big trips take more time, even three weeks. Don't let work pressure you into less time. If you are good at what you do they will allow it.

Advice for Those Who Want to Travel More: As soon as you get back from one trip, start planning the next one. The anticipation of travel (what gear to pack, etc) is as much fun as the travel itself and will make work less tedious.

Then go online and look at trips from adventure companies like Mt. Travel Sobek, Nat Geo Adventures, Wilderness Travel, etc. They have gone everywhere and feature the bucket list adventures. Finally, subscribe to Outside Magazine and Men’s Journal (yes, even if you are a woman). They have the best features on bucket list style trips.

I sometimes forget that l traveled to Europe twice this year before COVID put the world on pause (two out of what would’ve been five confirmed trips to Europe). This picture was taken during my first Europe trip back in January, which now feels

You can find me back here (in my dreams) 😌
I have no problem staying home and staying safe (and wearing a mask when I do go out 😷), but sometimes the travel bug hits hard. On this #WanderlustWednesday, I’m missing my far-flung adventures and looking forward to the next one, whenever an
I recently came across this picture, which was taken back in January during a beautiful evening on Oxford Street in London. Who knows when I’ll be able to walk down a crowded street again without being paranoid 🀷🏾‍♀️ Also, who knows when
