My Most Memorable Sunsets Around the World

I’m in San Diego on business at the moment, but before I had to start working I knew I had to squeeze in a personal trip to watch the sunset. After all, I know California is known for its epic sunsets. So, I went over to the aptly named Sunset Cliffs Nature Park to catch my first sunset.

The day had been a partly cloudy one and got even cloudier as the sun started to go down, but then at the very last minute the sun came through and it was a truly magical sunset. It got me thinking about some of my most memorable sunsets ever that I’ve seen around the world. Here they are in no particular order:

Atacama Desert, Chile
Who knew the sunset from a rocky desert would be so amazing? But it really was. It’s one of those moments I know I’ll remember for a very long time.

Malibu, California
Almost six years ago, I went to Malibu with friends and had a sunset picnic on the beach. It was February so it was a bit chilly and quiet, which I think made that sunset even better.

All of South Africa
Every single sunset during my time in South Africa was amazing. Literally. Every. Single. Sunset. My favorites were the sunsets I experienced during my incredible safari in Kruger and also the safaris in Cape Town - LOVED them!

Boracay, Philippines
A few years ago, I traveled to the Philippines for my friend’s wedding and got to experience one of the most stunning sunsets on the island of Boracay, where her wedding was being held. To say it was memorable was an understatement.

Santorini, Greece (From the Water)
I’ve seen several sunsets in Santorini, including the famous Oia sunset, but my hands-down favorite is from the water. I did a catamaran sunset cruise, and it was magical.

Long Island City, New York
One of my consistently favorite sunsets is the one in my own backyard. Watching the city glow golden from across the East River on a beautiful sunny day never gets old.

Bali, Indonesia
One beautiful night in Seminyak, Bali, after a day of hiking and relaxing, I remember sitting on the beach with a glass of wine and watching the sun slowly sink into the earth. And I knew I’d never forget that night.

San Diego, California
The most recent memorable sunset on the list, this one was memorable for a few reasons: the rocky coastline, the shapes jutting out of the water and the fact that I thought it wasn’t going to happen.

Lima, Peru
Lima on a sunny day is truly amazing. On my very last day and night in Lima, I started the day with a run and then my mom and I had a great last day that ended with this incredible sunset. It was the best parting gift.

Hamptons, New York
A few years ago, I did a girls’ trip with some friends and we went to Wolffer Estate vineyard in Sagaponack for their sunset happy hour. It was amazing to see the vineyard during Golden Hour and as we left, the moon was unlike anything I’ve ever seen.

Do you have any memorable sunsets?

I have no problem staying home and staying safe (and wearing a mask when I do go out 😷), but sometimes the travel bug hits hard. On this #WanderlustWednesday, I’m missing my far-flung adventures and looking forward to the next one, whenever an
I recently came across this picture, which was taken back in January during a beautiful evening on Oxford Street in London. Who knows when I’ll be able to walk down a crowded street again without being paranoid 🤷🏾‍♀️ Also, who knows when
