5 'How to' Blog Posts That Will Help You Travel More

I realized recently that I have quite a few 'how to' blog posts that I've been slowly but steadily adding to this site since I launched The Globe Getter in 2015. They range from how to spend time in specific cities (hey, Sydney and Chicago!), to how to actually travel more for less (see below).

As someone who likes to take the occasional look back at what I have and have not yet written about, I decided now would be a good time to pull some blasts from the past and share my top five 'how to' blog posts that will help you travel more, whether you want to or not (hopefully you want to).

In no specific order, and without further ado...

#1 - How I Afford to Travel
I wrote this blog post after a good friend of mine asked me how I was able to afford taking as many trips as I do. Some find the question offensive, but I knew she was coming from a good place – a genuinely curious place – and it made me share many of the main things that help me to travel more. None of what I wrote about are ground-breakingly new, but they do take discipline. In the end, though, it's always worth it.

#2 - How to Plan the Perfect Girls' Getaway
I love a good girls' trip. Whenever I go away with my girlfriends, I end up eating too much (though we try to squeeze in some workouts when we can!), catching up on my friends' lives and laughing until my stomach hurts. It's the best. And, for some people, they're more inclined to travel when they have someone or a group of people to travel with — why not make it a girls' getaway, right?

#3 - How My Dad Flew to Europe for $95
Quite frankly, this post is a game changer. If you're not into airline points and miles, you should be, and just relying on flights to build up your airline points and miles isn't going to cut it these days, unfortunately. I walked my dad through the process of earning points and miles in a financially responsible way and then wrote about what we did to get him to Europe, step by step. He hasn't been the same since.

#4 - How to Pack Light for Your Next Big Trip
I genuinely believe knowing how to pack light will help you travel more. Why? Because some people are paralyzed by the thought of packing and planning and all that not-so-fun stuff. But, maybe – just maybe – this blog post will provide some guidance and relieve some of the stress that comes with pre-trip logistics and packing. I follow everything in this blog post for almost every trip I take (unless it's a very short trip that doesn't require much effort or planning), and it's helped me tremendously.

#5 - How to Tell If You're Addicted to Travel
This may or may not actually help you travel more, but I'm sharing this post anyway, mostly because it's one of my all-time favorites. The error fare I mention in the post was honored (yay, TAP Portugal!) and I ended up having an amazing trip for literally a fraction of the cost. Addicted to travel or not, who doesn't love a good value? Anyway, I digress. For anyone wondering if they are a travel addict – read this and then tell me what you think.

I sometimes forget that l traveled to Europe twice this year before COVID put the world on pause (two out of what would’ve been five confirmed trips to Europe). This picture was taken during my first Europe trip back in January, which now feels

You can find me back here (in my dreams) 😌
I have no problem staying home and staying safe (and wearing a mask when I do go out 😷), but sometimes the travel bug hits hard. On this #WanderlustWednesday, I’m missing my far-flung adventures and looking forward to the next one, whenever an
I recently came across this picture, which was taken back in January during a beautiful evening on Oxford Street in London. Who knows when I’ll be able to walk down a crowded street again without being paranoid 🤷🏾‍♀️ Also, who knows when
